How long will it take for me to be get a child foster placement?
It can take anywhere from one to six months after your home is approved to be matched with a child. Placements depend on who needs care, and when they enter the foster care system. This means that your foster match could come at any time after your home is approved.
How long will it take for me to be get an adult placement?
After the application process the time frame can be anywhere from immediate too ongoing. Placements depend on who needs care, and when they enter the system. This means that your adult placement could come at any time after you have approved. .
Do foster parents get paid?
Traditional foster parents will be compensated by DCS, but therapeutic foster parents are compensated at a significantly higher level due to the increase in required care.
Do I have to be a resident of Tennessee to work with Children or Adults?
Yes, to work with children or adults in Tennessee you must be a resident of Tennessee.
What age do I have to be too foster?
To be a foster parent in Tennessee you must be at least 21 years old. You Also need to be 21 to work with our adult population.
What children need fostering?
Children are in foster care because they or their families are going through a crisis. Often these children— from babies to teens— have been removed from their parents because they are unsafe, abused, or neglected or their parents are unable to care for them.
Can I foster as a single parent?
Yes! Single parents can and often do become foster parents. While it is ultimately up to an organization to approve a foster parent application, there is no law against single parents becoming foster parents.
